Drop Bike Data Breach
INFO 456: Information Policy
One of our assignments in this class was to present on and lead a discussion concerning a failed information technology implementation or redesign, specifically analyzing the policy implications. My colleague and I chose a topic close to home, a recent data breach that affected UBC students and community members who use the bike sharing service, Dropbike, which was new to campus in early 2018. We researched the stakeholders involved, what exactly went wrong in a technical and policy sense, value tensions that arose from the breach, how the issue was addressed, and implications for the future. Below are the presentation slides we created to share with our classmates in addition to the more formal essay that we handed in.
